Fixed don’t mean no frolick

Admittedly, shooting weddings can become quite routine.  Preparation shots, check.  Ceremony, formals, check check.  Portraits… portraits…?

Heh.

Rock and roll!!

Not pictured here is a photo of the bride dancing with her Dad.  Now, the Father-Daughter dance is always moving and an emotional time.  I’m not ashamed to admit I had to keep my professional composure in check several times in the past.  But this one, this one was different.  The reception hall was all applause and smiles, that is, until she took the floor.  Her daddy led her in a slow dance to a tune no one remembers.  Gradually the general noise died down into a silence charged with intensity as more people became riveted to the center of the dance floor.  In the stillness, even the music seemed to fade, every eye held captive by the scene before them, the bride clinging to her daddy.

And the sound of her crying.

Lindsey and Adam

Kimmie, I know you’ve been waiting for this one.  Barb and Lindsey, too.  There were so many photos I wanted to feature on my blog and it was nearly impossible to pick.  It was a beautiful wedding, and an even more beautiful couple.  I can’t say enough about you guys- so full of life and kindness for others.  I count myself blessed and privileged to be a small part of your day.

“Hey, hon”

It was a fun and eventful day to say the least.  Well, that’s actually a very inaccurate description to the point of being offensive.  We had about two and a half hours for portraits which meant we had plenty of time to prowl around the city and get creative.  Since much of downtown was closed due to the filming of Transformers 3 and Old St. Pat’s block party, we took a bit of a swing off the beaten path and found ourselves in a nice little corner of North Avenue Beach.  D&S were a wonderful couple, up for pretty much anything which was typical given the fact that they held their wedding on a cruise ship in the middle of Lake Michigan.  Although I had my camera pointed at the happenings aboard the upper deck, I couldn’t resist snapping off a few of the Chicago skyline.

It actually started raining, the kind that drops like heavy fruit from a tree.

But the storms passed, just in time for the vows.  Timing can be so perfect sometimes.

MORTAL KOMBAT!

Maybe for my next shoot I'll get the Bride and Groom to fight each other. Just a thought.
